1 can of dietetic pears in syrup
1/2 cup of dry red wine
1/2 cup of orange juice
1 whole clove, crushed
1 whole cinnamon stick, crushed
1/4 teaspoon of grated orange zest
1 tablespoon of sugar or sweetener

Drain the pears and reserve the liquid
Arrange the pears in a decorative glass bowl or 4 ramekins
Use half the syrup from the can and pour it into a saucepan
Add the remaining ingredients and let it simmer
Reduce the heat and cook slowly, covered, for 10 minutes
Let it cool and, when warm, pour it over the pears
Refrigerate to chill well before serving
Serves 4 with 57 calories per serving
Note: If desired, substitute the dietetic pears in syrup with 3 small pears halved, 1 1/2 cups of water, and 3 tablespoons of sorbitol.
