Peel the pears and leave them whole, then brush them with lemon juice to prevent browning
Place them in a saucepan with sugar, water, and cinnamon
Cook over medium heat for 15 minutes
Add the Porto wine and continue cooking with the lid off for another 15 minutes
Remove the pears and place them on a serving dish
Allow the syrup to reduce until it reaches a light consistency, then drizzle it over the pears
Serve chilled.
