1 piece of cinnamon

Wash the pears
Remove the skin but leave the stems intact
In a saucepan combine the wine, water, sugar, clove, cinnamon, and lemon
Add the pears
Cover and cook over low heat for 30 minutes, or until the pears are tender
Remove the pears and place them in a serving dish
Reheat the liquid again and let it reduce to half
Pour it over the pears
Chill in refrigerator
Serve chilled.
