Bring the water to a boil with the salt, then let it simmer
Sprinkle the oats over the water, stirring constantly to prevent lumps
Reduce heat, cover the pot and cook slowly for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally
Serve hot with milk or cream and honey or fruit
