400 g of ham slices
3 cups (1/2 cup) of milk
4 egg yolks
2 tablespoons of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of butter
5 tablespoons of grated cheese
4 egg whites, beaten to a snow-like consistency
2 leek stalks, sliced into thin pieces (white part only)
6 tomato slices
300 g of mozzarella slices
Salt to taste

Salt to taste
Mix the milk with the egg yolks and cornstarch
Add the butter and salt and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened
Add three tablespoons of grated cheese and the beaten egg whites
Remove from heat and mix well
In a greased refrigerator dish, spread a little of this cream at the bottom
Top with alternating layers of ham, leek stalks, tomato slices, and mozzarella
Spread another layer of cream on top and sprinkle with grated cheese
Repeat the process and finish with the remaining cream
Sprinkle grated cheese over the surface and bake in a moderate oven until golden brown
Serve immediately with lettuce and pepper salad.
