2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 teaspoon of vanilla

Whisk together the powdered sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a saucepan
Add the milk gradually, whisking well
Any lumps that form will dissolve as the mixture cooks
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until it comes to a boil
Remove from heat
Beat the egg with a tablespoon of powdered sugar until thickened
Add some of the saucepan mixture
Pour everything into the saucepan with the remaining mixture
Cook, stirring for an additional 2 minutes
Remove from heat
Add the butter or margarine and vanilla
Place in a 19.5 cm diameter mold with a hole in the center moistened with water
Let cool, unmold, and serve
