Pour the peas into a bowl and cover them with hot water
Let it sit for 2 hours and 30 minutes
Drain the peas and transfer them to a pot
Cover with cold water and cook until the peas are tender
Drain, pass through a strainer, and reserve
Melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic
Add the peas and season with salt and black pepper
Stir in the milk gradually, cooking until it reaches the desired consistency for pureed soup
Remove from heat and serve with roasted meat or chicken stew.
