Peel the sweet potatoes, remove the seeds, cut them into pieces and place in a medium-sized pot
Add the remaining ingredients, mix well, cover, and bring to high heat
When boiling, reduce the heat and cook for about 20 minutes or until the sweet potatoes are tender
If the liquid evaporates, add a little water so it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pot
Remove from heat and mash the sweet potatoes with a fork, obtaining a smooth puree
