4 cups of wine (960ml)

In a large saucepan, caramelize the sugar over high heat, stirring occasionally, until golden brown (approximately 4 minutes)
Add the cinnamon, lime, cloves, ginger, and water
Cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar dissolves (approximately 13 minutes)
Remove from heat
Add the wine, mix well, and simmer over low heat for approximately 3 minutes
Serve in small glasses.
