5 cups of finely chopped cabbage
1 cup of grated carrots
1/2 cup of chopped green onion (use the white and green parts)
salt and black pepper to taste
1 beef bouillon cube
1/4 cup of hot water
1/4 cup of butter or margarine
1 tablespoon of mustard
1/3 cup of chopped pistachios or cashews
1/4 teaspoon of paprika

Combine the cabbage, carrots, green onion, salt, and black pepper in a pan
Dissolve the beef bouillon cube in hot water and add it to the pan
Mix well
Bring the mixture to a simmer over low heat, covered, for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally
Siphon off any excess liquid, if needed
Place the pan in a warm serving dish and reserve without letting it cool
Melt the butter or margarine in a pan over low heat
Add the mustard, pistachios or cashews, and mix well
Pour the melted mixture over the cabbage and sprinkle with paprika
Serve immediately as an accompaniment to meats or poultry
Stays fresh for 6 hours.
