For the topping:
1 spoonful of flavorless gelatin
1/4 cup of cold water
1 cup of mayonnaise
ketchup to taste
Stuffing to taste:
2 hard-boiled eggs
2 spoonsfuls of mayonnaise
1/2 spoonful of mustard
2 spoonsfuls of finely chopped green onion
Ham filling:
3/4 cup of cooked, crumbled ham
1/2 spoonful of finely chopped pickles
2 1/2 spoonsfuls of mayonnaise
1/2 spoonful of mustard
18 slices of bread

Mix all the ingredients for the egg filling
Mix all the ingredients for the ham filling
For the topping, mix the gelatin with cold water to soften it
Heat over low heat to dissolve
Mix with mayonnaise and reserve while preparing the sandwiches
Spread the egg mixture on 6 slices of bread
Spread the ham mixture on 6 slices of bread
Place one on top of the other and cover with the remaining 6 slices
Assemble in a dish two rows of 3 sandwiches
Cover with mayonnaise with gelatin
And, if desired, use a mustard-filled plastic bag or empty mustard container to draw a line with ketchup over the sandwich indicating the layers
Cut into 12 pieces.
