8 sardines
lemon juice

8 tablespoons (4 inches) of butter or margarine
2 large onions, sliced into rings
salt and pepper to taste

Rinse the sardines well, remove heads and bones
Wipe with a little lemon juice
Place 2 sardines on each piece of aluminum foil
Top each sardine with 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine, broken into pieces
Cover with some onion rings
Sprinkle with salt, pepper, and parsley
Wrap in aluminum foil, closing tightly
Bake at moderate heat for 15 to 25 minutes
Serve four ways.
