1 cup cooked and mashed sweet potato

Beat the sugar with the butter
Add the sweet potatoes, eggs, heavy cream, and vanilla extract
Mix well
Combine the baking powder, nutmeg, and flour
Add to the egg mixture
Add the milk to the egg mixture
Mix well
Roll out the dough to a thickness of 1/2 inch on a lightly floured surface
Cut into shapes using a glass or cookie cutter about 4 1/2 inches in diameter or larger, if desired
Fry 4 or 5 at once in hot oil and, when they rise, flip them over and let them brown
Serve simple or with sugar and cinnamon
Best served within 2 days.
