Melt the butter in a large saucepan and sauté the onions sliced into thin rings
Fry them until they're soft and translucent: low heat, covered pan
Then add the chicken broth, prepared according to package instructions
Allow it to simmer for a bit, then test the seasoning and add black pepper to taste
Serve with toasted bread and generous amounts of Parmesan cheese
