6 medium onions, chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt

Parmesan cheese, grated

Sauté the onions in butter or margarine in a large saucepan until lightly browned
Add the beef broth
Cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the onions are tender
Add the salt
To serve, allow the soup to boil, place it into shallow bowls or ramekins
Serve with a slice of toasted bread in each bowl and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese
Serve hot, eight times.
