Melt the butter, margarine, or oil
Add the onion and cook slowly until golden brown
Add the chuck steak, increase heat, and cook until browned
Add the water and simmer until the meat is almost cooked
Add the potatoes and simmer for an additional 15 minutes
Add the sausage and stir well
If necessary, add more beef broth
Add 1 1/2 tablespoons of sweet paprika
