1/2 pound of veal or mutton or beef

juice of 4 lime

6 cups of boiling water
1 small chopped cabbage
to taste salt

Place the meat in a pot with the lentils
Add the chopped onions to the lime juice and pepper
Add the boiling water
Simmer over low heat, covered pot, for about 1 hour
If necessary, add more water to maintain the same level of liquid
Add the cabbage and salt to taste
Simmer gently in a covered pot for another hour
Ladle into 6-8 soup bowls
Mash the meat, lentils, and cabbage well until a thick paste is obtained
Serve on a platter and cover with onions sliced into thin rings.
