1 basic cake recipe
For the cream
1/4 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of cornstarch
1 pinch of salt
2 egg yolks passed through a sieve
2 cups of milk
1 tablespoon of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
For the filling
6 earth bananas or nanicas, sliced thinly
2 tablespoons of butter
1/2 cup of oil
For the meringue
3 egg whites
6 tablespoons of sugar

Prepare the cake dough according to the basic recipe
In a medium pan, mix together the sugar, cornstarch, salt, and egg yolks
As you go, add in the milk, stirring constantly
Bring to a medium heat and cook without stopping (leave it boiling for 1 minute)
Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla
Mix well and let cool, covered with plastic wrap (to prevent a skin from forming)
Spread over the prepared dough
Fry the banana in butter and oil, until it starts to brown
Wipe off excess with paper towels and place on top of the cream
Prepare the meringue: beat egg whites until stiff
As you go, add in the sugar and beat well until firm peaks form
Place spoonfuls over the cake filling and put in a hot oven (200°C), until lightly browned
Serve at room temperature
