Preheat the oven to moderate temperature (170°C)
Melt 1/4 cup of butter or margarine in a round form, about 24 cm in diameter
Sprinkle with sugar
Arrange the cashews on top
Whisk the remaining butter or margarine with 1/2 cup of sugar
Add the egg and vanilla and whisk well
Combine the sifted flour mixed with baking powder, alternating with milk
Place the dough carefully over the cashews
Put in the oven and bake for about 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes and unmold
Serve warm
