90 g (1/3 cup plus 1 1/2 teaspoons) unsalted butter at room temperature
150 g (3/4 cup) granulated sugar

Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler, stirring with a wooden spoon until smooth
In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs
Add the flour and stir well
Combine the chocolate mixture and stir for 10 minutes with a wooden spoon
Pour into a greased 25 cm diameter round cake pan
Bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for about 40 minutes
To make the topping: Melt the chocolate in a double boiler, then remove from heat and whisk in the remaining ingredients until well combined
Spread this mixture over the still-warm cake
Yields 6 servings.
