Let the puff pastry sit at room temperature for 30 minutes
In a skillet, melt the butter over high heat
Add the onion and cook for five minutes or until golden brown
Add the pear, mix well, and season with salt and pepper
Remove from heat and let cool

Preheat the oven to medium temperature
Unroll the puff pastry and cut it in half lengthwise
Place one half on top of the other, then place in a baking dish
Distribute the filling evenly, leaving a 1.5-centimeter border
Sprinkle with cheese and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown
