3 cups all-purpose flour

Batter the mixture with a whisk for 1 1/2 minutes
Gradually add the eggs, one at a time, whisking well after each addition
Whisk in an additional 1/2 cup of milk and batter for another 1 1/2 minutes
Pour the batter into two greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans
Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
Let cool completely before filling and topping
Filling: Mix together the mushrooms, orange zest, orange juice, egg yolks, and whole wheat flour
Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and the pan is dry
Let cool, then fill the cakes with the mushroom mixture
Topping: Beat the butter or margarine until creamy, then add the flour and lemon juice
Beat until smooth
Spread the topping over the cakes
Cold cake: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for at least 2 hours
To serve, remove from freezer and let stand at room temperature for about 30 minutes before slicing.
