Heat the milk

Whip the eggs with sugar until stiff peaks form

Gradually add some of the milk and cornstarch, whipping for another 3 minutes

Pour the mixture into a saucepan with the remaining milk and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened

Remove from heat and stir in the wine

Let cool, then transfer to a serving dish and refrigerate for 1 hour

Serve chilled, garnished with grapes, if desired.
