Wash and drain the rice
In a stone-ground skillet, melt the butter or add the melted milk, allowing it to heat thoroughly
Add the garlic and salt, letting it caramelize slightly
Combine and reheat the rice
Cover with boiling water up to two knuckle lengths above the rice level
Let it cook until tender
When cooked, but still moist, combine the Minas cheese, allowing it to melt into the rice
Serve in the same stone-ground skillet
