1 can of asparagus (or 1 bunch of fresh asparagus)
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine
1 cup of thick white sauce
1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

If using fresh asparagus, peel it from the tips down, pulling off the skin
Cook in boiling salted water (reserve for soup broth)
Take the cooked asparagus or canned asparagus and drain all the water
Arrange in a baking dish (or ceramic refractory plate) greased with butter or margarine, sprinkle with grated cheese and cover with white sauce
Place some small pieces of butter on top, and put it in a hot oven for about 10 minutes, until golden brown on top.
