4 bananas, peeled and sliced

Combine the sugar and 1/4 cup of water in a medium saucepan and bring to heat, stirring occasionally
Cook until caramelized
Add the bananas and butter, and stir well
Gradually add the remaining water
Stir and let the syrup thicken for about 2 minutes to allow the bananas to caramelize
Pour over balls of ice cream or whipped cream and serve immediately
Serves 6 portions.
