1 2/3 cups dried damask fruit

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup chopped nuts (such as almonds, hazelnuts, etc.)

Mix the dried fruits and water in a small saucepan
Bring to a boil, then reduce heat
Cook slowly for 10 minutes with lid on
Strain, let cool, and finely chop
Preheat oven
Grease a 20 cm square baking dish
Mix together softened butter, granulated sugar, and all-purpose flour until a crumbly consistency is achieved
Press firmly into the prepared baking dish
Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned
Remove from oven
Beat eggs with 1/3 cup granulated sugar until thickened
Add 1/3 cup all-purpose flour, active dry yeast, and salt
Beat well
Pour batter into prepared baking dish and bake for an additional 30 minutes or until the top is firm
Let cool completely before cutting into bars.
