1/3 cup of sweetened condensed milk

Preheat the oven
Grease a square baking pan measuring about 23x23x5 cm
Beat 1/2 cup of softened butter or margarine, 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract until light and fluffy
Sift together 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda over the mixture and mix well
Add the crushed cornflakes, chopped almonds, golden syrup (Karo brand), and 1/3 cup of milk chocolate chips
Spread half of the mixture at the bottom of the prepared baking pan
Melt the remaining chocolate with 1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
Remove from heat, add the nuts and sweetened condensed milk, and mix well
Spread over the first layer in the baking pan
Add the remaining mixture to the baking pan in spoonfuls on top of the chocolate with nuts
Distribute evenly
Bake in a moderate oven for about 30 minutes or until firm and golden brown
Let cool in the baking pan and cut into squares.
