Peel the sweet potatoes well and cut them into pieces
Cut the pecans into pieces
Remove the seeds from the pecans and cut them into pieces
Assemble alternating layers of pecans and sweet potatoes in a baking dish, lightly greased, sprinkling each layer of sweet potatoes with salt and each layer of pecans with heavy cream
Finally, place butter or margarine in small pieces
Cover and bake in a moderate oven until both the sweet potatoes and pecans are tender
Take about 45 minutes.
