Preheat the oven to moderate temperature (180°C)
Place a baking sheet in the oven to warm up
Leave the potatoes unpeeled and cut them into thick sticks
Rinse in cold water, then pat dry
In a large bowl, mix together the melted butter or margarine with curry powder
Add the potatoes and stir until they're well coated
Remove the baking sheet from the oven: arrange the potato wedges on the sheet in a single layer
Put it back in the oven and roast for 20 minutes
Flip the potatoes and roast for another 20 minutes
Flip again and roast until they start to brown; flip them over to brown both sides
Remove from the oven and sprinkle with salt if desired
Serve hot, warm, or cold
