1/2 teaspoon of grated orange zest
2-3 tablespoons of orange juice

Preheat the oven to a moderate temperature (190°C)
In a large bowl, combine the sugar, butter or margarine, egg, beets, and vanilla
Beat well
Mix in the flour, baking powder, and raisins
Add to the egg mixture, stirring well
In an ungreased baking dish, shape into mounds using a spoon, spaced 5 cm apart
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown
Remove immediately from the baking dish and let cool
For the glaze, mix all ingredients in a small bowl until smooth and creamy
Spread over cooled biscuits
Yield: 48 biscuits.
