Mix the flour in a bowl and add the butter or margarine
With 2 knives, cut and mix the ingredients together
Add the salt and almond extract, and mix well
Place the mixture in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes
Roll out the dough to a thickness of 2 cm (0.8 inches) on a surface dusted with flour
Wrap the roll in plastic wrap and refrigerate for another hour or freeze for 15 minutes
Preheat the oven to a hot temperature (400°F)
Unwrap the mass, cut the roll into slices 1/2 cm thick, and brush each slice with an egg wash mixture containing almond extract
Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden
Let cool slightly in the baking dish and remove with a spatula
Yield: approximately 270g.
