In a saucepan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil over medium heat
Remove from heat and let cool slightly
Add the unsalted butter and stir until melted
Then, add the remaining ingredients and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until it forms a custard-like consistency
Transfer the mixture to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight
The next day, take 1 tablespoon of the cooled custard and shape into small balls
Place puff pastry sheets on either end of each ball
Dip the tops in egg whites and then roll in granulated sugar
Serve immediately
