3/4 cup of butter or margarine at room temperature

1 cup of blackberry gelato or other fruit gelato
2 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 small cup of plain yogurt
For the glaze:
1 cup of dark chocolate or other fruit gelato (blackberry, jabuticaba, amora, raspberry, strawberry)
2 egg whites
A pinch of salt

Grease a 23.5 cm diameter cake pan with a hole in the middle
Preheat the oven to moderate temperature (170°C)
Whisk together the butter and sugar until smooth and creamy
Add the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition
Add the gelato and mix carefully
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, spices, and baking soda
Alternate adding the dry ingredients with the yogurt mixture, mixing just to combine
Pour into the prepared cake pan
Bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean
Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan and letting cool completely
For the glaze: heat all ingredients over simmering water, whisking until stiff peaks form
Use to cover a cake of approximately 23 cm diameter.
