1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup unsalted butter or margarine, softened
1/3 cup plain yogurt
1 cup mashed bananas
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup chopped walnuts or hazelnuts

Mix together the dry ingredients
Beat the remaining ingredients, except for the nuts or hazelnuts, and add them to the dry ingredients gradually
Add the nuts or hazelnuts
Line the bottoms of two 20cm-diameter round cake pans with parchment paper greased with butter
Grease the sides of the cake pans
Pour the batter into the prepared pans and bake in a moderate oven (170°C) for about 30 minutes
Remove from the pans, let cool, and fill
If desired, top with whipped cream.
