Mix the chocolate, coffee, and 1/2 cup of sugar in a saucepan
Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until the chocolate melts
Let it boil, stirring always, until the chocolate thickens
Reduce the heat and cook for 3 minutes, stirring always
Remove from heat, add milk, and let it cool
Refrigerate
Beat the eggs with 1/4 cup of sugar until they thicken well
Add to the chocolate mixture at a slow pace
Beat the egg whites until they form soft peaks
Add 1/4 cup of sugar, vanilla, and a little of the chocolate mixture, beating until smooth
Refrigerate again
Serve in cups, if desired with whipped cream
