In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the butter, flour, water, and chocolate
Place over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the chocolate has melted and the mixture thickens
After removing from heat, add the melted butter or margarine and vanilla extract
Mix well to combine
Spread this warm glaze over your cake
Variation with nuts: Sprinkle 1 cup of chopped nuts over the top and sides of the cake after glazing
Variation with shredded coconut: Prepare the basic glaze and add 1 cup of freshly shredded coconut or packaged coconut moistened with coconut milk.
