In a large saucepan, cook the pears, lemon juice, honey, cinnamon, and cloves
Cook over medium heat, stirring until the liquid starts to simmer
Cook slowly for about 35 minutes, stirring occasionally or until thickened
Add raisins, partially cover, and cook, stirring occasionally, for another 15 minutes
Place in a container
Let it cool
Cover and refrigerate
This preserve can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week
Alternatively, you can fill sterilized glass jars with the preserve, seal them tightly, and then boil them in water until the jars are covered by about 10 minutes
Serve chilled with vanilla ice cream, cake, or use as a topping for cheesecakes.
