2 tablespoons of chopped basil leaves or 1 tablespoon of dried basil
salt and black pepper to taste

Cook the black beans with water
When cooked, drain and reserve 1/2 cup of broth
Cut the tomatoes in half and remove seeds
Chop the tomatoes and reserve
In a pan, heat the olive oil or vegetable oil and sauté the garlic until golden brown
Add the black beans and simmer for a few minutes
Add the tomatoes and basil
Season with salt and black pepper to taste
Simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, adding reserved bean broth
Serve hot
