1/2 pound of dried beef
1 pound of smoked pork tongue, raw
250g of smoked pork jowl
250g of beef
250g of salted pork, cured
salt and pepper to taste
2 large garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons of butter or margarine

Rinse the black beans well and soak them overnight
Dry the beef in a separate container with enough water to cover it
Scoop out the black beans
Combine 6 cups of water and cook over low heat, adding water as needed until the beans are tender
Start adding other ingredients afterwards
Cube the dried beef into 3 1/2 cm pieces and add it to the beans
Peel the pork tongue and cut it into large squares
Cover with water and let it simmer for two minutes before adding it to the black beans (which should be drained)
Poke holes in the smoked pork jowl with a fork and cover with water
Simmer for some time, then drain and add it to the black beans
Cube the beef into 1 cm pieces and add it
Season with salt and pepper
When the black beans are tender, sauté the garlic in butter or margarine.
