Melt the butter or margarine in a fondue pot directly over medium heat
Add the flour, salt, black pepper, and nutmeg
Gradually add the milk while stirring until the mixture is smooth and thickened
Reduce the heat, add the grated cheese in handfuls, stirring constantly until each portion is melted before adding more
Add the Worcestershire sauce
Cut the bread into pieces so that each piece has crust
To serve, spear a piece of bread with a fork or skewer and dip it into the pot, coating it with the fondue mixture
