Wash the jaboticabas well and place them in a pot with water that covers them, along with their skins
Let it cook thoroughly and mash them with a potato masher
Strain the mixture through a coarse-mesh sieve and then squeeze it out on a clean cloth, pressing firmly
Measure the liquid after straining and add an equal amount of sugar
Place the mixture back on the heat until it reaches the desired consistency
To check if it's done, drop a small spoonful of the pudding into the sink or a plate: if it doesn't spread, the pudding is ready.
