1 cup of penne or fusilli pasta
1/2 cup of cooked ham cubes or defatted chicken

1 tablespoon of butter or margarine
2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
1/2 cup of milk
salt and black pepper to taste

Cook and drain the macaroni
Preheat the oven to moderate temperature (350°F)
Place the macaroni in a small ceramic baking dish
Cover with ham or chicken and cheese
Melt the butter in a small saucepan
Add the flour and cook over low heat, stirring for 2 minutes
Add the milk and cook, stirring until it thickens
Season to taste
Pour into the baking dish
Bake for 25 minutes
