1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of Karo Syrup
1/2 cup of water
3 egg whites
1 cup of sugar
1/4 cup of Karo Syrup
1/2 cup of water
3 egg whites
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, Karo Syrup, and water
Bring to a low boil and cook without stirring until it reaches the thread stage
(To check for this point, place a little warm syrup between your thumb and index finger
If it forms a thread that doesn't pull apart easily, it's ready.)
Avoid moving away from the pan: the syrup should form a thread with minimal resistance
Beat the egg whites until they become soft peaks
Pour in the still-warm syrup, forming a continuous stream
Beat well until completely cool
Yield 20 tablespoons (scoops).
