For the batter:

3/4 cup of melted butter
3 cups of dark chocolate chips

4 egg yolks
4 cups of milk
1 cup of sugar
1/3 cup of cornstarch
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

Beat the eggs with sugar for 10 minutes
Add in the melted butter and dark chocolate chips, beating until well combined
Pour the batter into a 25 cm diameter cake pan with a hole in the center, without greasing
Bake in a moderate oven (180°C) that has been preheated for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean
Remove from the oven and let cool before unmolding
Makes the cream: Mix the egg yolks with a little milk and cornstarch
Harden the remaining milk with sugar and add to the egg mixture
Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens slightly and the cream is smooth
Add in vanilla extract and mix well
Let cool covered with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming
Chill before serving with the cake
