Mix the butter, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and eggs in a medium bowl until creamy
Add the rum and mix well
Sieve the flour and yeast over the mixture and mix well
Knead with hands until a dough forms
Shape into a ball and wrap in aluminum foil
Refrigerate for 30 minutes
Heat oil in a skillet
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of 5 mm
Cut into strips 20 x 1.5 cm
Make an indentation in the center of each strip
Fry in hot oil for 5 minutes or until golden brown, flipping halfway through
Drain on paper towels and dust with caramel sauce while still warm.
