Soften the yeast in warm water and add the milk
Let it rest for a few minutes
Mix well
Add 2 eggs, 1/2 cup of melted butter or margarine, and whole milk
Beat well and gradually add 3 cups of flour
Add the remaining flour to obtain a firm dough, kneading well with your hands
Cover and let it rise for about 1 hour
Roll out on a floured surface to form a rectangle approximately 45 x 30 cm
Cut into nine pieces and shape each one like a photo, by crossing the ends and pressing them against the bread
Place in lightly greased baking dishes and bake in a hot oven for about 10 minutes
Remove from oven, brush immediately with 2 beaten eggs mixed with 1 tablespoon of water, sprinkle with sugar and, if desired, with almonds
Bake in a moderate oven again for about 15 minutes
