4 fillets of salted herring
5 tablespoons of butter or margarine (approximately)
1 onion
4 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley
4 sheets of waterproof paper

Leave the herring to soak in cold water for 12 hours and cut into fillets
Pickle the onion until it's soft, then fry it in a little fat
Mix with chopped parsley
Cut the paper sheets in half and grease them lightly
Lay the herring fillets on top of the paper
Distribute the onion and parsley evenly over the top
Wrap well to form 8 sealed packets
The dish can be prepared ahead of time
Now heat 2-3 tablespoons of butter or margarine in a frying pan
Add the packets and heat for 1 minute, until they puff up and are golden brown
Place the frying pan in a moderate oven for 5 minutes.
