In a large saucepan, combine the red wine, Port wine, water, sugar, honey, orange peel, and cloves
Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves
Add the peeled and halved pears without seeds
Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally for 10 to 15 minutes or until the pears are tender
Transfer the pears and orange peels to a bowl
Continue cooking the compote until the liquid reduces by half
Remove from heat
Let the compote cool and place it over the pears
Chill in the refrigerator, covered with plastic wrap
