2 tablespoons of water

Bake the meringues and let them cool completely
Using a pastry bag, pipe a hole in the bottom of each meringue and fill with cream
Dissolve the sugar in water and bring to a simmer until the syrup thickens slightly
Remove from heat
Dip the top of each filled meringue into the hot syrup and arrange on a plate in decreasing circles
The syrup will set and hold the meringues in place
Yield 50 meringues.
